KYOTO INTERCHANGE is an art institution founded to maximize the aesthetic and social role of artists. Instead of limiting the creativity of artists to the production and presentation of their work, we aim to extend this creativity to society as a whole, and in turn transform it into a driving force for social change. While realizing each project, an open and fair attitude as well as sensitivity and deep respect toward the artists and individuals involved is always kept in mind. We also propose an economy based on the principle of interchange with shared ethics, rather than buying and selling for maximum profit. We believe that by emphasizing an artist’s practice, outdated notions and ideas can be updated and a hopeful vision of the future made possible.
