GALLERY SIDE 2 opened in 1997, to introduce the ideas and the works of young contemporary artists who have never shown in Tokyo. It aims to introduce new ideas of art that pushes the existing borders. Udomsak Krisanamis, Rirkrit Tiravanija have been with us for over 20 years. In the past 10 years, the gallery have been working with local artists and currently represents 6 Japanese artists: Jun Fujita, Takeo Hanazawa, Yuko Murata, Shizuka Mitsui, Masaru Tatsuki. These emerging artists have started to show both internationally and at domestic museum group shows . In the recent years, it also has introduced Thai sculptor Thaiwijit Puengkasemsomboon, Korea's Joe Yong Rhee, Italian painter Santi Alleruzzo, and has presented Peter McDonald's 4th solo exhibition after his last exhibition in 2010. The gallery continues to work closely with local and international contemporary artists.
